We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work for a manufacturer of electro mechanical machinery based in Swindon.
The hours are Monday to Thursday 7.30am – 4.30pm and Friday 7.30am – 12.45pm.

Key duties:
1. To work collaboratively with the technical teams to develop hardware solutions, performing relevant calculations, associated simulations and tests to deliver robust assembly jigs and test equipment.
2. To work collaboratively with the technical teams to ensure electromechanical assembly jigs and fixtures deliver robust, innovative technical solutions with sound theoretical basis.
3. To ensure that designs meet operator safety requirements, carrying out relevant development, testing and debugging in conjunction with the quality and manufacturing teams.
4. To understand product performance principles, identifying key specification issues and performance criteria in order to develop, demonstrate and carry out robust product assembly and functionality tests.
5. To assist the business with identifying existing product or application issues and then delivering robust, proven test equipment and assembly jig solutions.
6. To undertake air performance, vibration, acoustic noise and mechanical testing.
7. To construct and evaluate test samples in conjunction with the technical teams.
8. To understand and comply with the requirements of ISO 5801 for air performance testing.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
1. Minimum HND qualification with mechanical design experience, preferably with a bias toward production machinery and tooling design
2. Knowledge of materials selection, and specification of surface and heat treatment processes
3. CAD experience, preferably with AutoDesk Inventor, Vault and AutoCAD
4. Experience of working to BS8888 standards to produce accurate manufacturing drawings
5. Knowledge of Design for Manufacture principles
6. Hands-on design, testing, fault finding and debugging of electromechanical jigs and fixtures in a production test environment
7. Familiarity with PLC application in a production assembly and test environment would be highly advantageous
8. Practical and technical knowledge of electromechanical principles
