The successful candidate will have particular expertise in highways design, pavements, bridges, earthworks engineering, cut and fill assessments, ground remediation, underground services, flood alleviation, sustainable drainage systems, pumping stations and sewerage systems, external works and highway and drainage section agreements (S278, S38 & S104).

Projects: housing, education, retail and industrial sectors

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and leading project teams,
  • Working closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects i.e. architects, building services engineers, project managers and cost managers,
  • Assessing resource levels to deliver challenging projects,
  • Managing/ mentoring engineers and technicians towards Chartered status,
  • Prepare client / project proposals to win new work,
  • Representing Ridge at client and project meetings to present designs and make key project decisions,
  • Preparing fee proposals and managing project costs,
  • Construct project teams from internal and external resources,
  • Project profitability (monitoring / planning of costs and budgets),
  • Procure project resources,
  • Manage and co-ordinate highways and drainage designs relating to large development infrastructure projects,
  • Produce Flood Risk Assessments (FRA's), Drainage Strategies, Nutrient Mitigation and other Pre-Planning advice,
  • Provide day-to-day client interface, conducting site visits for technical assessment or problem-solving.


Requirements:

  • A relevant degree e.g. civil engineering,
  • Ideally professionally qualified as a chartered engineer (CEng),
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within a multi-disciplinary organisation,
  • Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (M.I.C.E.) or equivalent relevant professional body,
  • Good understanding of section 38, 278 and 104 agreements,
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and in particular Civil 3D,
  • As a competent user of Infodrainage / Microdrainage - desirable,
  • 8 years' post graduation design experience,
  • Experience in drainage (foul and surface) and minor road way design,
  • A good understanding of section 38, 278 (Highways Act) and section 104, 106 and 185 (Water industry Act) agreements,
  • Experience with designing a wide range of projects from conception through to completion (including calculations, drawings and specifications),
  • Competent in the design of external works,
  • Familiar with Part H and M of Building Regulations, British Standards and local authority requirements,
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its application within civil engineering,
  • A solid understanding of drainage design, SUDS, highways, cut and fill analysis,
  • Be proficient at design and happy to participate in productive work,
  • You will have the technical skills, knowledge and experience to find creative solutions for even the most complex challenges and the ability to communicate these clearly to all parties.
