Paralegal - 6 month contract

Pharmaceuticals - Commercial law & Data Privacy

Slough - with Hybrid working

£20 to £35 per hour

If you are a paralegal with work experience in Commercial law and have a good understanding of basic contract law principles, then this 6 month contract with a pharmaceutical company could be your next ideal in-house position.

The work will support business clients in Belgium, the UK and at other sites. In this role, you will l will be given responsibility and independence appropriate to your experience. You will also have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues internationally, including Paralegals in the US

Supporting the Associate General Counsel you will work alongside EU Product lawyers key responsibilities will include :

  • Reviewing, drafting, negotiating and advising upon a wide variety of routine contracts, including master service, agency, confidentiality, amendments, services, consultancies, and other template-based agreements relevant in the biopharmaceutical sector, arising out of the business units located in Belgium, the UK and other jurisdictions.
  • Serving as a primary point of contact for certain internal business clients within the remit of this Legal team, as may be reasonable and appropriate for the successful candidate.
  • Conducting research and other legal-related activities usual for a paralegal, in support of this Legal team.
  • Assisting in the development and presentation of templates, guidelines and training to the business of legal requirements and developments.
  • Contributing to team-driven initiatives towards improving legal support, processes and the collaboration between Legal and the business, as well as interacting with other internal lawyers and other colleagues to promote alignment between Legal teams.
  • Training the business on such templates, guidelines and legal requirements and developments

What skills do you require to apply for this role?

  • LLB or CILEX (or equivalent).
  • Paralegal work experience or equivalent in-house/law firm experience, with a good understanding of basic contract law principles.
  • Experience of drafting, reviewing and negotiating basic commercial contracts.
  • Experience of data privacy issues which may arise in contract negotiations.
  • Some experience of working with digital and IT contracts ideal but not a requirement
  • Ability to work autonomously with excellent organisational and project management skills, including the ability to manage a busy workload, to prioritise and manage numerous diverse matters in a timely manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to build good rapport and effective working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Prior Pharmaceutical experience ideal but not a requirement
  • Good working knowledge of languages other than English would be an appreciated plus, but not an essential
