In this role you will champion and lead the growth of the BIC Flame for Life & Blade Excellence portfolios across both UK & Ireland in order to deliver yearly budget volume and value targets. You will work with both strategic marketing elements (e.g. assortment, campaign management & local NPD decision) as well as more trade marketing elements esp. on the lighters side. In this role you will have 2 direct reports.


Your main missions will include following:


Brand Management

Development, implementation and management of the full activation plans for both the Flame for Life & Blade Excellence portfolio in line with European guidelines and in collaboration with local sales teams.

Day to day brand management:

  • Customer promotional plans / promotional analysis / pricing recommendations
  • Consumer activation
  • Development of key sales materials (e.g. POS & trade presenters, catalogue updates)
  • Forecasts & Roll-out plans for NPD / initiatives
  • Commercial / Financial scenario planning & tracking
  • Regular catch-ups with internal stakeholders
  • Development of yearly Marketing Plans
  • Communication, briefing and management of key agencies

Market Analysis

Close understanding of the Flame for Life & Blade Excellence markets

  • Champion market data and insight across the business for each area
  • Regular analysis of research and data available
  • Understand market and customer dynamics to identify growth opportunities
  • Constant review of BIC & competitors across all channels to ensure optimised marketing mix
  • Exploration of new players to target for growth

Sales interaction

Support, motivate and inspire the sales to deliver plans and achieve results

  • Regular interaction with both UK & IRE teams
  • Development and delivery of Trade presentations across UK & Ireland to all key customers
  • Regular store visits with Sales team to identify opportunities and provide assistance and guidance

Financial accountability for Flame for Life & Blade Excellence portfolios

  • Preparation, implementation & monitoring of marketing budgets
  • Calculation of P&L for any NPD
  • Close tracking of P&L by SKU / channel to identify gaps and opportunities to drive further
  • Working closely with Sales to deliver incremental growth opportunities

Customer Retention & Development

Development of in-store and online initiatives to drive loyalty

  • Regular discussion with UK & IRE KAM’s and customers about ways to generate and encourage loyalty (e.g. online coupons, in-store promotions, in-store communications, value added promotions)
  • Clear understanding of barriers & purchase drivers for your categories

Production & Supply Chain

Support for securing Flame for Life & Blade Excellence availability

  • Liaison with Europe Marketing to deliver any NPD on time
  • Liaison with production to ensure lighter sleeves are ordered as per EU process.
  • Spend time with Demand planner to manage different décor range launches
  • Forecast follow up with Sales and Demand Planning teams
  • Annual management of Lighter and Shaver Budget and Forecast process
  • Coordinate with team on Product Creation Forms where required
  • Liaison with packaging / production / factory to enable development of local packs

Communications

Presentations

  • Present at meetings as required (monthly management team meetings / team meetings etc)

Marketing Team Training & Development

Manage, Support, motivate, inspire and develop the Junior Product Manager and Marketing Assistant

  • Direct line-management of Junior Product Manager – Flame for Life & Blade Excellence and Marketing Assistant
  • Work closely with the Senior Marketing & Category Development Manager to coach and develop the team
  • Ensure follow-up with each team member of their specific objectives
  • Recruitment of either position as required

What You bring to BIC:


  • Higher Education (in Marketing discipline preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (e.g. Marketing / Trade Marketing / Cat Man / Sales etc.) within FMCG industry
  • Minimum 2 years of people management experience
  • Experience working with syndicated data (IRI or Nielsen Scantrak, Panel, etc)
  • Understanding of UK retail environment (e.g. major customers)
  • Solid MS Office skills – PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Fluent English
  • Demonstrated project and product management expertise
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority
