An opportunity for a Senior Lawyer has become available and we seek a high calibre candidate with relevant experience to join the Council’s legal team in the Property and Contract Team. This motivated and highly professional team is looking for an individual committed to excellence in their work and with a passion for property (including commercial property) and contract legal work and working in Local Government.
The post will include assisting with the Council’s commercial contracts, including negotiating and advising on various contracts and agreements on behalf of the Council. Representing clients on behalf of the Council on various contractual matters and negotiating with third parties. Drafting contract clauses and negotiating with third parties as and when required. Providing legal advice on any contractual matters and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring that all relevant regulatory procedures are carried out and providing advice as and when required. Representing clients on behalf of the Council on property matters, including, but not limited to, the sale and purchase of land, and lease arrangements. The individual appointed will need to be able to deal with a varied and demanding workload and be committed to delivering a successful in-house legal service.
Pay Details: Senior Lawyer - Grade 10 (SP 36 – 39) £42,503 - £45,495 (depending on experience).
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: Monday – Friday 37 hours - part-time / reduced hours would be considered.
Main Place of Work: Civic Offices however the service now operates a hybrid working model which enables employees to work flexibly from home or from an office base, depending upon service requirements. We have a modern case management system, online legal resources, and a dedicated Legal Assistant. We also have a trainee solicitor post which we use to help grow our own workforce.

The successful applicant will need to be admitted as a solicitor, or called to the bar and must be able to work as part of a team.
