Job Description
The NIHR Clinical Research Network North West Coast (CRN NWC) is looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to join our Business Intelligence team as an Information Officer oversee the Local Portfolio Management System which is Edge Research database in our region. Supporting users from within the core team and partner organisations in the use of the system, compiling reports from the data held within and ensuring the accurate and timely flow to national information systems.
The National Institute for Health (NIHR) is funded through the Department of Health and Social Care to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research. The NIHR Clinical Research Networks (CRNs) are the research delivery arm of the NHS in England, tasked with supporting the rapid set- up and effective conduct of studies enabling researchers to gather the robust evidence needed to improve treatments and care for our population. The NIHR CRN is led by a national coordinating centre and operates through 15 Local CRNs, of which CRN NWC is one.
Your excellent organisational, communication and project management skills will be key to success and you must be able to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate will have a flexible and adaptable approach and ability to work well with users of our LPMS to support them with training and troubleshooting of the system.

- Work in collaboration with the networks Information Manager, Business Intelligence Lead and wider CRN network teams/site research delivery staff to ensure recruitment activity is recorded
- Lead on the Local Portfolio Management Systems (LPMS - EDGE) and Central Portfolio Management Systems (CPMS) to ensure research and recruitment is effectively recorded
- Attend national meetings to discuss and implement local and national working practices
- Be a direct support and knowledge resource to advise at all levels on Local Portfolio Management System and Central Portfolio Management System
- Deliver bespoke specialist training to all levels of staff within the network and Partner Organisations
- Establish and develop key collaborative working relationships with Partner Organisations, NIHR CC, study teams, other networks, & Clinicians
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with Partner Organisations and NIHR CC to provide information requirements
- Support the design of Business Intelligence reports, identifying and evaluating continuous improvement of reporting functions
